Slurry is the cheapest form of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium on farms. Slurry should be spread where grass covers are low and on soils deficient in P and K.
Silage is pasture grass that has been ‘pickled’. It is a method used to preserve the pasture for cows and sheep to eat later when natural pasture isn’t good, like in the dry season.
Loosening and breaking up (tilling) of the soil. The soil around existing plants is cultivated (by hand using a hoe, or by machine using a cultivator) to destroy weeds and promote growth by increasing soil aeration and water infiltration.
